Creative Therapies
I have facilitated creative therapies with individuals and for diverse groups of different ages in different settings for over thirty years.
We make meaning through creating, telling and retelling stories and fragments of stories of our lives. Humans in all cultures have made sense of the rhythms of life through stories, myths, narratives, images, music, movement and dance. We harness breath, rhythm, tone, pace, pitch and silence.
Our creativity moves us, connects us with all parts of ourselves, mind-body-emotions-spirit soul. We can allow and express hidden emotions. We make associations as we engage with different expressive arts forms. As embodied beings, we are always in different kinds of relationship with ourselves and with others and with our world. Through our imagination we can find new ways to relate beyond our limitations.
Creative Therapies you opportunities to participate in creative journeys of recovery and self-discovery through Movement, Meditations, Dance, Storytelling, Poetry, Drama, Music/Singing, Voice, Art/Mask-making, Film. Some aims include:
